Island ginger, also known as “small ginger,” “bamboo ginger,” or “slender ginger,” is different from the commonly consumed Chinese ginger. Island ginger is smaller, leaner, and denser, with ginger fibers several times richer than those of ordinary ginger.
Fresh ginger naturally contains dietary fiber, gingerol, zingiberene, and shogaol, which help burn metabolic waste, improve digestion, and enhance immunity. This is one of the key reasons ginger is so beneficial, and island ginger contains the highest proportion of these compounds among ginger species.
Compared to regular mature ginger on the market, island ginger is rarer and more valuable. This is because it can only be cultivated in high-altitude mountainous areas at around 1,000 meters above sea level, requiring fertile, deep soil with excellent drainage on gentle slopes. After each harvest, fields must be rotated with other crops and can only be replanted after 6–7 years.
Rong-Qi Company’s island ginger is grown on fertile gentle slopes in the Alishan region. Each year, carefully selected land and experienced ginger farmers are chosen, following quality standards equivalent to those for export to Japan. Strict pesticide testing and irrigation water quality control are enforced, providing consumers with the safest, healthiest, and fully traceable premium island ginger.
